At the core, trust is an assurance that lets people manage risks in their relationship with others. As a decision mechanism, trust is the perception we have,
that the other person will not, intentionally or unintentionally do anything, that harms our interest. It is a feeling, that we can depend on that other person
to meet our expectation, when we are not able to control or monitor, his or her behavior. People seldom even think about the role trust plays, when they
interact with others - until the element of risk emerges in those relationships.
Trust is demonstrated and expected through three important dimensions:
Ability It is about technical skills, competencies and
execution . The dimension requires that
trust requires some sense that the other
person is able to perform in a manner that
meets other’s expectations.
Integrity This includes shared values and
expectations between parties. It is the degree
to which the other person adheres to
principles that are acceptable to us.
Loyalty It is related to truth telling and a personal
relationship between the trustor and the
trustee. On this dimension, people consider
whether the other person is concerned
enough about our welfare to either advance
our interests, or at least, not impede them.
Your trust wheel:
Your report indicates that when it comes to earning trust , you keep a balanced focus on all the three key dimensions of trust. Though you usually
prefer to earn trust by actively demonstrating “Integrity” (41.2%). This means that you prefer to display principles of fairness, charachter, reliability,
consistency and rock solid ethic, to impress your trustworthiness upon the other person. Contrast to this, while giving trust, you put a very strong
emphasis on “Ability” (57%), before you consider the other person trustworthy. This means you carefully consider the other person’s skills,
competencies, and capability to execute or accomplish specific tasks before you allow yourself to Trust him or her.
The report indicates that you are comfortable in giving and receivng trust on the dimension of “Loyalty”. This means that you stand with those others
with whom you share a personal bond, even through tough situations . This is a very important contributor towards maintaining Trust especially in
mature relationships, it can be interpreted that you are more comfortable in mature relationships , than in new and formative ones.
Key watchouts:
While you actively demonstrate (receive) trust through Integrity, note that “Integrity” along with “Ability” are very important for creating and building
trust bonds in the formative stages of any new relation. Therefore, while you continue to use “Integrity” to receive trust in such relations, it is equally
important that you, also recognise “Integrity” as a tangible expression, when giving Trust. An exclusive emphasis on “Ability” (57.1%), possibly at the
cost of recognizing or acknowledging “Integrity” (12.5%), especially while giving trust, can hinder easy and quick building of a trust bond, between
you and the other person. Likewise, in the early stages of any relation, you can practice focusing more on “Ability” (23.5%) while receiving trust.
